Before the recent revolutionary protests in Yemen, there were just the 3 different conflicts there which had most governments recommending no travel to it. So, on the face of it then, last October was hardly the perfect time to visit for The Irish Times as guests of the Yemeni Tourist Board, with embassy staff leaving as we arrived.
